We use Spangler. They don’t just make the dumdum ones and (at least the peppermint ones I have on hand) say ‘made on dedicated equipment’. Few companies can beat that label in the US.

Hi, I was just wondering if you knew anything about “The Tree Trimming Canes” manufactured by Allan Candy. I want to give them to my students before winter break, but aren’t sure if they’re peanut free. I’ve tried looking them up on the company’s website, but it’s currently under construction. And I’ve been meaning to call their hotline, but haven’t gotten the chance. I just wanted to see if I’d be able to get some info here.

Please tell everyone you know to go vote on the Martha Stewart website on Martha’s blog for the big idea bakeoff. One of the ideas is to launch a new magazine with Martha for people with food allergies and intolerances. Please vote as many times as you can each day for the next week so this dream becomes a reality!
Go to www.marthastewart.com and then look for Martha’s blog on the upper right hand side.

Spangler Candy is a good choice. They make Dum Dums, Cane Classic, Gobstoppers, Spree, Sweet Tart, and Wonka Canes. As well as classic peppermint “Spangler” canes. I work at the factory, and we do not make anything that involves peanuts in any way. And even if we did, all the canes are made on dedicated equipment, just like the label says, so there wouldnt be any contact at all.
Happy Hunting!

My toddler had a horrible reaction while eating a Spangler Saf-t sucker. He is highly allergic to soy, but soy was not listed in the ingredients. Spangler’s website boasts that “it does not contain soy” but “a trace amount of soy oil is used as a lubricant in the kettles”. Their packaging doesn’t mention soy at all. The company rep. indicated that Spangler now uses refined Sunflower oil. Neither Sunflower oil or soy is listed in the ingredients. Use caution if you are allergic to either.

Does anyone know what the ingredients for the Nickelodeon Candy Canes, specifically the purple candy cane with Patrick (from Spongebob Squarepants) are? My son had a bad allergic reaction to that candy and I would like to know what it’s made of.
Thank you all very much.
